"This area is filled with historic homes, built with some of Wisconsin’s oldest and most beautiful timber. When we bought our house, built in the late 1800s, it came with some seriously neglected wood floors. Bringing the luster back to our one-of-a-kind maple and birch shortboard would be a serious undertaking, and we weren’t sure where to begin. Fortunately, Mike with Forest Floor has been refinishing and restoring wood floors in this area for years. He immediately identified the source and history of our floors (comparing it to work he’s done in the area), and recommended a refinishing process that would best restore and protect the wood long-term. He may not have an online presence, but he is serious about wood. He’s responsive and considerate on the phone and dedicated to the job. He worked with me at every step, cutting through the confusion of different sealer and stain options, and never tried to upsell me on anything. He’s not trying to pay for extra overhead, and provides an incredible value for his time and talent. The low/no dust and vacuuming was also really appreciated (at no extra cost). Ask any tradesman, and you’ll find maple is incredibly difficult to work with (especially with uneven/historic floors). It can be difficult to sand, and every mistake will show in the finished/stained floor. Mike took the time and care required, and it really paid off. The floors are beautiful! We had no idea our floors could look this great, with revitalized tones and remarkable detail in the grain. Thanks to Mike, we were able to refinish all of our floors, exceeding our expectations at a fair price we could afford."
